Yvonne McCoy has a Master’s degree in Human Resources and Counseling from the University of Bridgeport, Connecticut and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Albertus Magnus College, New Haven, Connecticut. Mrs. McCoy is also a Motivational Speaker.

Mrs. McCoy was employed at a Health Care Facility for approximately three (3) year whereas she was a Human Resources Director; during which she was challenged and rewarded the opportunity to use her skills as a proactive Human Resource Professional in human capital leadership; while demonstrating her ability to build a critical business partnership that supported business initiatives across all organizational levels.

Mrs. McCoy was also employed at Southern New England Telecommunications/SBC/AT&T for approximately 15 years; before taking a severance package. During which time Mrs. McCoy has held several positions within the Company. However, the last position that she held was Regional Human Resource Manager for SBC Telecom Northeast Region. Through her involvement in these different career areas, Mrs. McCoy has experience and specialize training in the following areas; Human Resources Polices & Procedures, State and Federal Laws, Self Esteem and Peak Performance, Time Management, Managing and Leading in Complex Organizations, Interpersonal Communication Skills, Business Writing for Results, How to Develop & Administrator a Budget, Developing Your Image as a Successful Business Woman, Discipline Skills for Managers (Correct Performance Problems) and How to Supervise People.

Furthermore, through her employment at AT&T, Mrs. McCoy received certificates from J. Howard & Associate; an Efficacy Institute of Learning based in Lexington, Massachusetts. Then institute is a not for profit organization providing training, consulting services to schools across the United States. Mrs. McCoy has also received certificates for Professionals of Color and Risk Taking for Professional Development. Currently, Mrs. McCoy is solely heading up their foundation; MADF.

Mrs. McCoy is married with three children, two son-in-laws, and one grandson and actively involved with their academic, scholastic and/or professional interests. In addition to her children’s activities, Mrs. McCoy along with her husband is also committed to the community. Her involvement is extensive, being the CEO of MAKING A DIFFERENCE FOUDATION which focuses on the importance of Education, Personal Development and Citizenship/Empowerment for the youth in the community.

In the fall of 1999, Mrs. McCoy helped her husband to convey three key messages to Inner City high-school students.

To date, Mrs. McCoy, along with her husband, has spoken to thousands of students, parents, and school officials to date.

As the CEO of Making A Difference Foundation, Inc. Mrs. McCoy has establish seminars and speakers forums throughout high schools in the Greater New Haven areas. In the past, she has also created a community network of students from Hillhouse, Wilbur Cross, Hyde Leadership, Eli Whitney Vocational, Career High, and Connecticut Job Corp. Whereas, these students called the U.AL.C.E.E.D.I.S. group meets once a month with Making A Difference Foundation, Inc. members to discuss their concerns, reduce the drop out rate, promote continuous education, and community involvement (i.e., feeding the homeless, collecting food for needy families, distributing holiday toys.) Mrs. McCoy, and her husband, also crated an intern program that placed several high school students at various Corporations.

In September of 2001, Mrs. McCoy prior to the Yale and Harvard game received an award from Dichello Distributor’s Inc., for continuously conveying positive messages pertaining to: continuous learning, no underage drinking and responsible adult drinking habits. Furthermore, Mrs. McCoy received proclamations for “It Takes a Village Celebration” from the Governor of Connecticut John G. Rowland and New Haven’s Mayor John DeStefano, Jr. In 2003, Mrs. McCoy was awarded a plague for her dedication for working with youth-at-risk.

This year, Mrs. McCoy established a Teen Pregnancy Prevention Leadership Program (TPPLP). This program will combat the rising number of young men/women whom find themselves in a win-lose situation with no foreseeable direction on how to response to alarming rise in the escalating number of teen pregnancies; that is plaguing our urban communities. Studies show that this rise in unwed fathers/mothers is due to the lack of education, peer pressure, unstable homes, and the rise in neighborhood crimes. Face with these facts/statics our goal is to reach out to these defenseless young men/women and equip them with the necessary tools to rise above their environmental circumstances.
